Like a Vapour Trail 2014
Music & Lyrics: Douglas Eldon McLean SOCAN July 2014
That girl’s gonna set your soul on fire
Keep you runnin’ through the night
If you’re fool enough to follow
Be prepared to pay the price
Many men have tried to hold her
Lock her down inside a cage
She will wait until the slumber
In their deepest dreams she will wander
Set their private plans asunder
As she makes a way for her escape
Across a clear blue sky
A Vapour Trail is dancing in the wind
Like that Vapour Trail
I don’t know how or why or even when
She’ll come again
Love can sting you with it’s arrow
Cut into you like a knife
Leave you shattered, shook and shambled
Leave you panting for your life
Many men have tried to buy her
Offer up their finest gold
But she will wait until they stumble
Wait until they fumble
All the hopes they thought they might blunder
While she makes a way to her escape
Everybody’s got the answer
They all want your sympathies
Based on gathered information,
Half baked truth and fantasies.
Many men have tried to hold her
Lock her down inside a cage
She will wait until the slumber
In their deepest dreams she will wander
Set their private plans asunder
As she makes a way for her escape
Across a clear blue sky
A Vapour Trail is dancing in the wind
Like that Vapour Trail
I don’t know how or why or even when
She’ll come again
This song gave me a lot difficulty – I could really feel something tugging at me but really couldn’t find it. I worked s long time on the idea but when I saw vapour trail above the highway on summer morning I kinda got more inspired. This probably took a few months. I was listening to some friends explain something as if they actually knew what they were talking about. Well that’s where it started. DM
